About Me
My favorite game to play while growing up was "school," whether my "students" were my friends, stuffed animals, or my captive little sisters. I've always loved helping others and the feeling I got from potentially helping these "students" to learn things about the world. I think that the purpose of life is to do as much good for others as you can, and for me, teaching is the way to do just that. I'm driven to teach children how to be successful in the world, guide them to value responsibility and kindness, and encourage them to follow their dreams. I'm committed to accomplishing these tasks to the very best of my ability.
I grew up in Monroe, Michigan, with two younger sisters. My mother is from Chile, South America and I have benefited greatly from being immersed in two cultures and two languages - I can't imagine Thanksgiving dinner without salsa music! I bring appreciation for diversity to my classroom. My family moved to the affluent community of Ada, near Grand Rapids, where I graduated from Forest Hills Central High School. I feel fortunate to have experienced two very different types of communities while being a student myself.
I then continued my education at Michigan State University, where I worked with some wonderful professors and mentors. I worked very hard in my classes to learn as much as possible, and plan to communicate the value of hard work and commitment to my students.
I pride myself in being a very positive person. I see all experiences as opportunities for growth, no matter the situation. I also value spending time with friends, relaxing with my family on Lake Michigan, and meeting and learning from new people. Other interests of mine include:
